SocialWorks needs your help with upcoming events! We’ll be preparing students to go back to school, celebrating OpenMike students in various ways, and providing those in need with a Taste of Chicago experience. Learn more information below and we hope to see you soon!

Dates:

Monday, August 14th: 10am – 4pm – DFSS’s BBQ, Brotherhood, & Backpacks

• Location: 10 S Kedzie Ave, Chicago, IL 60612 (Garfield Community Service Center )
• Volunteers should be prepared to disburse backpacks to families and share information about upcoming events.
• Volunteer Registration Deadline: Friday, August 11th at 12pm

Saturday, August 19th: 11pm – 3pm – OpenMike Showcase

• Location: 740 E 56th Pl, Chicago, IL 60637 (DuSable Black History Museum & Education Center)
• Volunteers should be prepared setup a booth and communicate to guests information regarding SocialWorks.
• Volunteer Registration Deadline: Tuesday, August 15th at 5pm

Saturday, August 19th: 2:30pm – 5:30pm – SocialWorks & John Walt Foundation Activation

• Location: 1901 W Madison St, Chicago, IL 60612 (United Center)
• Volunteers should be prepared setup a booth and communicate to guests information regarding SocialWorks.
• Volunteer Registration Deadline: Tuesday, August 15th at 5pm

Saturday, August 19th: 5:30pm – 9pm – SocialWorks & John Walt Foundation Activation

• Location: 1901 W Madison St, Chicago, IL 60612 (United Center)
• Volunteers should be prepared communicate to guests information regarding SocialWorks and breakdown the SocialWorks booth.
• Volunteer Registration Deadline: Tuesday, August 15th at 5pm

Saturday, September 9th: 11pm – 3pm – OpenMike

• Volunteers should be prepared to welcome and exalt young people; encouraging them to connect, express, and network.
• Volunteer Registration Deadline: Friday, September 1st at 5pm

Sunday, September 10th: 12pm – 5pm – Taste of Community: A Taste of Chicago & SocialWorks Collaboration

• Location: Intersection of East Jackson Blvd & South Columbus Drive, Chicago, IL 60615
• Volunteers should be prepared to serve and add value to guests’ festival experiences! Volunteers will be tasked to join either the gaming team, family festival team, or clean-up team.
• Volunteer Registration Deadline: Friday, September 1st at 5pm
