Volunteers from SocialWorks, Gyrls in the H.O.O.D, and Taste for the Homeless Will Join in Effort to Distribute 1,500 Food Baskets During Community Event

On Saturday, April 3, 2021 a coalition of organizations is hosting a fun-filled food giveaway and community celebration in the parking lot of the new Discover customer care center in Chicago’s Chatham community. Organized by Discover and Conscious Alliance, local residents are invited to drive-thru or walk up to the parking lot event where quality hams and food will be distributed free of charge. The event will feature activities including meet and greets with special characters. Volunteers will assist community members with getting food to their cars and homes.*

The event will be located at 8650 S. Cottage Grove, Chicago, IL, 60619, In the main parking lot from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M

Food insecurity continues to impact thousands of Chicago residents, especially those who have experienced job loss and illness during the pandemic. A collective of local organizations is leveraging resources to ensure South Side residents have access to food over the holiday weekend and during this time of great need.
