Now that the Big Brand™ two-weekend carnival that is Coachella has ended, another music festival is showing how things can be done entirely differently. Form Arcosanti festival will take place in the experimental art town of Arcosanti, Arizona on May 11-13 and the performers at the "micro festival" read like a Pitchfork who's who list: including Chance The Rapper, Fleet Foxes, Skrillex, Courtney Barnett, Beach House, Charli XCX and Daniel Caesar.Best of all, 100 percent of the proceeds from the festival will go towards SocialWorks, Chance The Rapper's community-minded charity. Co-founded by Chance in 2015, SocialWorks aims to "empower youth through the arts, education, and civic engagement while fostering leadership, accessibility, and positivity within the youth throughout Chicago."Form's list of partners isn't exactly the usual list of shoe and liquor companies, useless apps and car manufacturers. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Planned Parenthood, the LGBTQ-focused Human Rights Campaign, and the poverty-eradicating UN Development Program are among the key event partners.Started in 2015 by the Skrillex-connected electronic act Hundred Waters, the goal with Form was to create a festival that offered an experience with deeper value.In addition to the music, the three-day event will feature panels, workshops, art installations, new technologies, and outdoor/wellness activities on topics ranging from environmentalism to social justice, technology and design. Attendance is kept intentionally low relative to its star power, with last year's ticket sales being capped at 1,500. Attendees are asked to commit to promoting diversity, integrity, and creativity during the weekend.Past editions of the Form Arcosanti festival have included Solange, Kelela, James Blake, Skrillex and Thundercat.
