School is officially out for summer, and Chance The Rapper made a surprise appearance at Great Wolf Lodge on Saturday, June 11 to inspire local youth, as his SocialWorks’ Kids of the Kingdom (K.O.K.) initiative kicked-off its summer program for Chicago kids. Back fully in-person for the first time since 2019, SocialWorks hosted an interactive orientation weekend at the water park resort in Gurnee, attended by 113 campers and their families. Chance The Rapper also rode the Double Whirlwind water slide at Great Wolf Lodge with campers.

Throughout the weekend hosted by Great Wolf Lodge, campers enjoyed a surprise and delight appearance by Chance The Rapper, signed up for classes, met counselors and fellow campers, participated in team building activities, and enjoyed the resort’s always 84-degree water park and Adventure Park (featuring dry-land attractions and activities).

K.O.K. is a SocialWorks initiative and summer day camp focused on performing and literary arts. While at K.O.K., campers build ownership, social and emotional learning, agency, civic engagement, and growth – academically, behaviorally and socially. With all of the obstacles that youth must overcome, exposure to an arts, faith, and service-based curriculum provides a lifeline that results in lasting improvements for the person and their community.
